Inventory Controls
with Lot Control Option: Lot control is
generally used for items which exhibits similar properties. It is mainly used
in Pharmaceutical industries where medicines are often delivered in Lots
Define the Parameters for Lot
Control
Navigate to Setup > Organizations > Parameters >
Revision, Lot , Serial And LPN
Uniqueness: It
can have following two values
1.) None
: No Uniqueness will be followed
2.) Across
Items : Enforce unique lot numbers for items across all organizations
Generation:
Generation of Lot can be at
1.) Organization
Level: The system uses values you enter in the Prefix, Zero Pad Suffix, and
Total Length fields to automatically generate a lot number for an item when you receive it.
2.) Item
Level: The system uses the starting lot number prefix and the starting lot
number you define in the item master to automatically generate a lot number for
an item when you receive it.
3.) User
Defined: You can define a lot number for an item when you receive it
Select details as shown below
In order to test the functionality, we need to first define
an item in item master
Navigate to Items > Master Items
Create a new item & give details as shown below
Here Maturity Days means expiry date & Hold Days means
the number of days a lot needs to be kept on hold before making it available
for booking.
Create a Transaction. Navigate to Transactions >
Miscellaneous Transaction
Give details as shown below
Go to Transaction Lines & give details as shown below
Try to save it & you’ll get following error
Give lot details for the items
You can give predefined Lot
numbers by clicking on Generate Lot or else you can give your own lot number
Save the record & verify lot details
Navigate to On-hand, Availability > On-hand, Quantity
Enter search criteria
Click on find
Now we need to issue some items
Navigate to Transactions > Miscellaneous Transaction
Click on Transaction Lines
Click on Lot/Serial & give details as shown below
Note that we have not defined Lot3 initially. On
defining it in Miscellaneous Transaction form, we’ll get following message
This is a functionality which Oracle has provided us in
order to create, in runtime, a Lot of items whose characteristics have changed
in due course. For example, those items which are found to be defective.
On saving the above form we will see that a new Lot has been created with total quantities as -7
Navigate to On-hand, Availability > On-hand, Quantity
Search for the item
You can see that the item is having -7 as On-hand quantity.
This -7 quantity needs to be adjusted from other 4
lots. This adjustment will be done during counting
