How to set up Work Day Calendar in Inventory
Work Day Calendar is used to Define Working days (&
leave days) for an organization. It can be customized as per the requirements.
It is also used to define shifts. Following steps are required to define the calendar
& shifts.
Defining Calendar:
Login to Apps & navigate to Inventory > Setup >
Organizations > Calendars.
Create a New Workday Calendar by the name ‘VSCalendar’.
Quarterly Type can be taken as 4/4/5 Week Pattern. It means that First Month
will have 4 weeks, second will also have 4 weeks & third will have 5 weeks.
Click on Workday Pattern. You will see the
following form
Please note that 1st Jan 2012 is Sunday. Now if
you want to define Monday to Friday as working than add Workday Patterns as
shown below
Save & close the form & click on Dates Tab. You can
see the Calendar being generated
Days Marked in Grey are off & the ones marked in Black
are working days
Save it & check the Dates form, it will be updated
accordingly
Now if your organization has Tuesday &
Thursday as off then workday pattern will be defined as following
Check the Dates form
This is how calendar is defined for an organization. For the
sake of convenience we will define Saturday & Sunday off.
Define Shifts: Shifts
are created to define working hours for an organization. In the workday
calendar form, click on Shifts Button, a form will open. In that form, you can
define the shift Number & Description.
In order to define shift timings, click on Times &
Define the Timings
Note that from 10 AM to 10:15 is not defined, so it will be
considered as break timings & no activity like order booking can be done in
this duration. Similarly define other shifts as well
Kindly note that, you need to define Workday Pattern for
each shift, if you fail to do that then system will auto create it with following
message
Defining Leaves (Exceptions) : Leaves needs to be defined to
tell the system as to which days needs to be considered as off. Leaves can be
defined in 3 ways
1.)
By clicking on Calendar
2.)
Add day in exception list form
3.)
Load from exception template
We’ll see all of them:
Click on Exception List to see the details of all exceptions
2.) Add day to Exception list form : Open
exception list form & add the day manually
Here you can not modify Day On field
Here you can update Days On Field. Save it & go back to
Calendar & click Exception List
Click on Load & select the exception template that we
have already created above. Now click on Load & select the template we just
created
Click OK. Now you can see the details of exception list
Save the record.
Here you have an option to update Day On.
Each time you define a calendar a concurrent program needs
to be run to make that calendar available for use. Go To Tools > Build
Once the request completes successfully, you can see the
