Defining Attribute Controls & Status Attributes

Attribute Control: These are the properties which are used to control the behavior of the items used in different functional areas. There are around 265 Attributes. These are controlled at 2 levels

1.)   Master Level
2.)   Organization Level

If the Attribute is controlled at Master Level then we can set the attributes only at the master organization but if the attribute is controlled at organization level then we can set attribute at master as well as organization level

Navigate to Setup > Items > Attribute Control

You will see an error message.

That is a bug so ignore it. Press OK & Ctrl+F11

Check for the Attribute Inventory Item

It is set at Master Level so it can not be controlled at Child level. Let us check that in Item definition form

Check at Master Item level. Navigate to Items > Master Item

Go to Inventory Tab

We can see that Inventory Item check box is enabled & can be checked & unchecked

Now check the same form at organization level

Navigate to Items > Organization Items

Go to Inventory Tab

Here we can see that Inventory item check box is unchecked. So it can not be updated.

Now go back to Attribute control form & change the control to organization level

Now re check it at both levels once again

At Master Level

At Organization Level

Now we can see that it is enabled at both levels

Item Templates: Templates are used to pre define Item attributes so as to facilitate the creation of items in faster & effective manner

Navigate to Setup > Items > Template

Click on New & Give details as shown below

Give some values & save the form

Now create a new item. Navigate to Items > Master Items

Give Item Name

Go To Tools > Copy From

Give Template name & click on Apply & Done

Here we can see that Description, Primary UOM & Secondary UOM are auto populated

Status Attributes: Status Attributes enable and disable the functionality of an item over time. Each status attribute allows you to enable the item for a particular use. For ex if you set the status attribute Purchasable to Yes, you can put the item on a purchase order.

It has 3 values:

1.)   Defaults Value
2.)   Sets Value
3.)   Not Used

Navigate to Setups > Items > Attribute Control

Check for Purchasable Attribute Name

Now go to Item Master

Check the Purchased Check box, Purchasable Check box will be auto checked

Now go back to Status Attribute & change the value of Purchasable Attribute

Now check in Item Master again

Now we are able to check Purchased without checking Purchasable
