Kanban Planning

Kanban Planning Methods:

Kanban Planning is mainly used in places where an item has to be configured by procuring raw goods from various sources

Create an item in Item Master. Navigate to Items > Master Item

Give details as shown below

Now Navigate to Kanban > Pull Sequences > New

Give details as shown below

Card is nothing but a container. In this example, we have defined card value as 2 which means that there are 2 containers & each will have 100 items in it.

Add 1 more row as shown below

Now we need to generate cards, cards can be either auto generated or else we need to generate them manually. For first row, we’ll generate card automatically & for 2nd, we’ll do it manually

Select first row & click on Generate Cards Tab

Click Yes

Once the cards are generated, click on Cards tab to see the cards sequence

Here supply status is New

Now we need to generate cards for other line so close this form & select 2nd line & click on Cards

Give number manually as shown below

& save the record

Here also Supply status is New

Now close this form & go back to first line & click on Cards. Here we need to replenish the items, so click on Replenish. With this the requisition interface tables will be populated

We can see now that Supply status has changed to Empty

With this, we are done with Inventory Responsibility

Now navigate to purchasing responsibility & run the requisition import program

Once this program completes successfully, you can see the following output

In order to check the requisitions created, Navigate to Requisitions > Requisitions Summary

Creating Purchase Orders

In order to create PO, navigate to Purchase Orders > AutoCreate

Give the requisition number & click on find

Now click on Automatic

A form will open, give supplier name & click on Create

With this a PO will be created

Click on Approve to approve it

Click on OK

Now go back to Inventory Responsibility & check the status of Card. Navigate to Inventory Super User > Kanban > Kanban Cards

We can see that for Card Number 9493, Supply Status is In Process

Once the goods arrive, we need to receive goods in our Sub inventory.

Navigate to Purchasing Responsibility > Receiving > Receipts

Search by PO Number

Save the record

Now check the Supply Status. Navigate to Inventory Responsibility > Kanban > Kanban Cards

The card status is now full

With this, the goods are in Sub inventory 1. Now our staging sub inventory needs these goods.

Navigate to Inventory Responsibility > Kanban > Pull Sequences

Click on Cards

Click on Replenish

Once you click on Replenish, the card status will change to Empty

This means that a new move order is created

Navigate to Move Orders > Move Orders

We can see that a Move order is created & Move order type is Replenishment

Now navigate to Move Order > Transact Move Order & give the move order number & click on find

Check the check box & click on Allocate

& then click on Transact

Once items are transacted, you can see that the Supply status of Card 1 is Full where as that of  9493 changed back to Empty
