Pick Release

Pick Release

Pick Release Process starts once the order is booked & ends till a move order is created to move the goods to staging. Pick Release can be done in 4 different ways. We’ll see all of them in detail

Create a sales order & add lines as shown below

For item in line 4 there is no On Hand quantity

Book the order. The line status got changed to ‘Awaiting Shipping’

Release Sales Order: Release sales order means that the we are sending the SO to warehouse for moving the goods to staging area

Navigate to Shipping > Transactions & search by order number

We can see that the Detail status is ‘Ready to Release’ but ‘Pick and Ship’ Tab is not enabled. It is because we do not have shipping grants assigned to our user. In order to assign it, Navigate to Setup > Shipping > Grants and Role Definitions > Grants & give details as shown below

& save the record

Again go back to Shipping transaction form & now we can see that all tabs are enabled

1.)   Releasing Sales order Using Pick Release form : Navigate to Tools > Pick Release form

Give Inventory name in warehouse field

We can see that there are 2 methods of performing pick release

Execute Now: Releases an order, Trip, Trip Stop, or delivery immediately, thus eliminating time spent waiting to process through the Concurrent Manager queue. If this method is selected, however, you must wait until pick release completes prior to running other processes.
Concurrent: Releases in the background for multiple orders, Trips, or deliveries, enabling you to run other processes simultaneously.

& click on Execute Now. You’ll get a message saying

Now requery for the order number in Shipping Transaction form & we can see that the detail status has changed to ‘Released to Warehouse’

Also for this line we can see that a Move Order has been created

The only disadvantage of this method is that it can be used only for individual line. Means we can not release more then 1 line at a time.

2.)   Release Sales Order using Launch Pick Release: We use this option whenever we have to release multiple lines. Navigate to Shipping > Transactions & search for the same order number & select remaining 3 lines

In the Actions Tab, select Launch Pick Release & click on Go. You’ll get a message saying

Once the concurrent program completes successfully then we can see that the line status of all the details has changed to ‘Released to warehouse’ & a single move order will be created

3.)   Release Sales Order using Release Sales Order SRS form: We use this option whenever we have to use Release Rules, because we can give release rules only here. Lets create another SO with lines as shown below

For line 1, Scheduled Ship Date is after 2 days & for line 2. It is after 20 days. We have On-Hand availability of only 50 items but the combined total of line 1 & line 2 is 70.Now our Release rules will come into picture. Book the order & navigate to Shipping > Release Sales Orders > Release Sales Orders SRS

Give Release Rule as shown below

Once the Sales Order completes successfully then go to shipping transaction form & see the status of lines

We can see that line 2 is not yet released & a single Move order is created for line 1 & 3

4.)   Pick Release using Release Sales Order Form: Create another SO & give lines as shown below & book the order

Navigate to Shipping > Release Sales Orders > Release Sales Orders & give details as shown below

Click on Execute Now. You’ll get a message saying

We can see the details in Shipping Transaction form

In a nutshell we can define the different methods of Pick Release as shown below
